Late journalist, Ibrahim Goronyo, buried in Sokoto

Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Goronyo, a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Sokoto State Council ,who died on Wednesday night was buried on Thursday.
Our Correspondent gathered that the deceased died at the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto at the age of 64 after a protracted illness.
He was buried according to Islamic rites after a funeral prayer conducted at their family house, Lailaba Road, Arkila Area, Sokoto.
The funeral prayer was attended by several dignitaries and members of the NUJ in Sokoto State.
They included the State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, State PDP Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, Chairman, Goronyo Local Government Area, Engr. Zubairu Yari Goronyo and the Yarin Goronyo, Alhaji Samaila Goronyo.
Also in attendance were the Managing Director, Sokoto State Media Corporation (SSMC), Alhaji Labaran Lumo Dundaye and Faruku Umar, Head, Media and Public Relations, Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA).
Others were the Chairman and Secretary, Nigeria Union. Of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, Usman Mohammed Binji and Muhammad Nasir Bello, respectively, as well as other executives and members.
The rest were: The Chairman and Secretary, Correspondents’ Chapel, Mr Ankeli Emmanuel and Musa Ubandawaki, including other executives and members, among scores of other relatives, family members and sympathizers.
The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Arkila Jumaat Mosque, Sheikh Yusuf Arkila, who also led prayers for the repose of the soul of the departed.
The deceased is survived by one wife and five children.
May the Almighty Allah grant him Aljannat Firdaus, Ameen ya Hayyu ya Qayyum.
