Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to gain momentum and expand its support base across Sokoto State.

The latest political development is the mass defection of loyal supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from various wards and communities in Binji Local Government Area to the APC.

Speaking during the presentation of the defectors to the leader of the party in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, at his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto, former member representing Binji/Silame Federal Constituency, Hon. Sa’adu Nabunkari Binji, attributed the development to the numerous projects being executed by the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto across the state.

Hon. Nabunkari stated that the wave of defections was only the beginning, noting that more members of other political parties were already indicating interest in joining the APC.

According to him, many influential political figures from both the PDP and ADC have already aligned with the APC due to the visible achievements and commitment of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto towards fulfilling his campaign promises and delivering democratic dividends to the people.

He reaffirmed the loyalty and support of the people of Binji Local Government Area towards ensuring APC’s victory in the 2027 elections.

In his remarks, Senator Wamakko expressed delight over the large turnout of new APC members and assured them of equal treatment and inclusion in the affairs of governance.

The former governor also described Binji as a blessed town, citing the contributions of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Haliru Binji, among other prominent personalities from the area.

The defectors were led by the Chairman of Binji Local Government, Hon. Dikko Nabunkari Jamali; Member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly representing the area, Hon. Tukur Umar Binji; APC Chairman in the area; and the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Nasir Muhammad Binji, alongside other political stakeholders.
