2027: Atiku/Amaechi Movement says election about capacity not personalities

The Atiku/Amaechi Movement has said that the 2027 presidential election should be about capacity, experience and the urgent need to rescue Nigeria, rather than personalities.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the National Director, Media and Communications of the Movement, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal.
The statement was in reaction to recent comments by Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso regarding the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for the 2027 presidential election.
The Movement, led by Umar Ibrahim Shanono, said it respects Sen. Kwankwaso’s right to his opinion and acknowledged him as a respected leader and stakeholder in Nigeria’s democracy.
However, it stated that the 2027 contest is about the capacity to address Nigeria’s challenges.
“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has a proven track record of service, a deep understanding of Nigeria’s economy, and the national reach required to unite our country.
“Paired with the administrative competence of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, this ticket offers Nigerians the tested leadership they deserve at this critical time,” the statement said.
While noting its disagreement with attempts to downplay the capacity of the ticket, the Movement said it would not engage in rancor, stressing that challenges of insecurity, poverty and division are too serious for distractions.
The Atiku/Amaechi Movement, therefore, called on all opposition leaders and patriotic Nigerians to put the country first and embrace dialogue and collaboration for a united front ahead of 2027.
“Our doors remain open for dialogue, collaboration, and a united front to send a clear message in 2027. Nigerians are tired and they deserve better. We are ready to provide it,” the statement added.
