Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has commended the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, for his unwavering support for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Sokoto by Abubakar Bawa, Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto.
According to the statement, she gave the commendation on Saturday during a courtesy visit to the Sultan at his palace in Sokoto.
“Your Eminence always shows keen interest in all the programmes we are implementing under the Renewed Hope Agenda. We sincerely appreciate your support,” she said.
The First Lady appealed to the Sultan to sustain his support for the Federal Government in its efforts to build a better Nigeria.
Earlier, the Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, commended the First Lady for the numerous humanitarian programmes she has introduced, which, he said, have positively impacted the lives of vulnerable groups across the country.
“Your support for agriculture and empowerment is truly commendable, and we deeply appreciate it, Your Excellency,” the Governor said.
Governor Aliyu noted that thousands of women, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable Nigerians have, on several occasions, benefited from cash and food assistance provided under the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
He also commended the Sultan for his consistent efforts in promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence.
The Governor further appreciated the Sultan for his continued support and cooperation with the Sokoto State Government and called for the sustenance of the cordial relationship.
In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, commended the Federal Government for the various transformational projects being executed across the country.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing construction of the Sokoto–Gusau and Illela–Badagry roads, when completed, would significantly enhance the socio-economic well-being of millions of Nigerians.
The Sultan also expressed satisfaction with the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, which, he said, has provided support to many vulnerable groups across the country.
He called for the sustenance and expansion of the initiative to enable more vulnerable Nigerians to benefit.
The Sultan further advocated collective action in addressing the security challenges confronting the nation.
“We need to come together if we are to overcome banditry and kidnapping in the country,” he said.
He assured both the Federal and Sokoto State Governments of the continued support of the Sultanate Council in their efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
A special prayer session, led by the Sarkin Malaman Sokoto, Sheikh Yahaya Na Malam Boyi, was held during the visit, seeking Allah’s guidance, protection, and continued success for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.
