Specialist Hospital Sokoto CMD refutes claims of absence of Doctors at Emergency Ward

The Chief Medical Director of Sokoto Specialist Hospital, Dr. Attahiru Isa Sokoto, has refuted claims circulating on social media that there are no doctors on duty at the Emergency Ward of the hospital.
The clarification comes after a viral post questioned “the use of the Commissioner for Health” following allegations that the state’s biggest government-owned hospital lacked medical personnel in its Emergency Ward.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Sokoto, Dr. Attahiru Isa Sokoto described the allegation as false and misleading. He said the Emergency and other critical units of the hospital are fully staffed and operating 24 hours daily.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Doctors, Nurses and other health workers are on duty at the Emergency Ward of Sokoto Specialist Hospital round the clock.
” We have a functional duty roster and no patient has been denied care due to lack of personnel,” Dr. Attahiru Isa Sokoto said.
He added that the Doctor on call as at the time of the visit of the person who posted the viral video, who slept at the hospital had just gone to observe the early morning prayer and was never absent or truant.
The CMD maintained that the state government under the able leadership of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto had transformed the hospital into a world-class facility.
He insisted that the administration inherited the hospital from the last administration when it was in a comatose situation.
According to Dr. Attahiru Isa Sokoto, the hospital has now been fully provided with additional assorted medical personnel and ultramodern health equipment while its general infrastructure was given a total facelift, modernizing the edifice.
“The present administration has invested heavily in the health sector. Sokoto Specialist Hospital now boasts of modern equipment and adequate manpower to cater for the health needs of our people,” he added.
Dr. Attahiru Isa Sokoto urged members of the public to disregard what he called “malicious and unfounded allegations” aimed at causing panic and undermining government efforts in the health sector.
“We advise the public to verify information and channel complaints through appropriate hospital authorities instead of resorting to social media to spread falsehood,” he state.
