RE: ALLEGED PERSECUTION OF OPPOSITION – A FALSE ALARM BY DESPERATE POLITICIANS

Gentlemen of the Press,
The Kaduna Coalition of Deregistered Political parties (KCDPP)is a Coalition of former Chairmen of 75 opposition Political parties with structures and members that have contested in all electable offices from Governorship to councillors hip in the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna state. It is also, a Coalition that is independent,neutral and is driven by intrinsic value system of people driven pro development politics and integrity in leadership.
We, the members of the Kaduna Coalition of Deregistered Political Parties (KCDPP), having critically analyzed the communique issued by the Gubernatorial Candidates Forum (GCF) comprising ADC, PDP, PRP and others, wish to state unequivocally that their allegation of persecution by the Kaduna State Government is false, baseless, politically motivated and an insult to the intelligence of Kaduna people.
Everyone knows what His Excellency, Senator Dr. Uba Sani has done within his first tenure.
REMINDER: Governor Uba Sani CON, was a pro Democracy and Human rights activist that has battled and made incredible sacrifices during the late General Abacha’s reign, along side Distinguished Senator Shehu Sani CON, late Dr Beko Ransom-Kuti,Wole Soyinka,late Gani Fawehinmi,etc. And we must not forget that it’s their life threatening sacrifices that resulted in the Democracy we are enjoying today.
1. ON THE ALLEGATION OF PERSECUTION:
This government has not persecuted any opposition. On the contrary, this is the most tolerant and inclusive government in the history of Kaduna State. Governor Uba Sani has opened the political space, engaged all stakeholders, and has never used state power to harass or intimidate any political party, or other citizens of Kaduna State. Where is the evidence of this persecution? Who was arrested? Whose campaign was stopped? The opposition is simply suffering from self-inflicted fear and is trying to heat up the polity ahead of 2027.
2. ON PEACE, UNITY AND LOVE:
The greatest achievement of Governor Uba Sani is the restoration of PEACE, UNITY and LOVE in Kaduna State. Before now, Kaduna was divided along ethnic and religious lines. Today, under Uba Sani, we have seen:
– Restoration of peace in Southern Kaduna and all troubled areas.
– Inclusive governance that carries every part of Kaduna along.
– The Rural Transformation Agenda touching lives in all 23 LGAs.
– Dialogue, not demolition. Engagement, not enmity.
No serious-minded Kaduna citizen will trade this peace for the desperate politics of 2027.
3. ON THE INTEGRITY OF THE ELECTORAL PROCESS:
We challenge the GCF to protect the dignity of the electoral process, they should desist from spreading fake, invented or imaginary news. The Kaduna State Government under INEC and the rule of law cannot and has not undermined any electoral process. If they are ready for 2027, they should go to the field and sell their manifestos, not fabricate persecution.
4. OUR STAND:
The KCDPP therefore:
a) Condemns in totality the false alarm raised by the GCF.
b) Passes a Vote of Confidence in Governor Uba Sani for his exemplary leadership and his commitment to peace and development.
c) Calls on all lovers of Kaduna State to disregard the communique of the GCF.
d) Advises the opposition candidates to be issue-based and stop trying to gain cheap sympathy, or encouraging political bitterness.
Kaduna State is moving forward, no amount of falsehood will take us back to the era of division and hate.
