Nasarawa Governor commissions N2.2bn Silame bridge, 14km road in Sokoto

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule on Wednesday commissioned the
Silame Bridge constructed by the Sokoto State Government at the cost of over
N2.2 billion.
Our correspondent reports that Governor Sule also commissioned the 14km Garin Magaji to Gittarana Rural Road in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Speaking at the event, Gov. Sule urged other Governors in Nigeria to understudy the giant strides of
Sokoto State Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto* if they truly desire to develop their states.
“Let me tell the people of Sokoto that you are very lucky, very lucky, very lucky to have this to be your governor.
“All the work he has done with humility, with pure hard work, with respect,” Sule said.
The Nasarawa Governor noted that Sokoto, like Nasarawa, is an agrarian state and rural infrastructure such as roads and bridges will have direct impact on farmers and rural communities.

“The President wants us to make sure we make impact, especially at the rural communities. Sokoto, just like Nasarawa, is an agrarian state.
“You have a lot of farmers here. Most of these farmers have difficulties,” he added.
He said he was supposed to be in Kaduna for a similar project inspection but had to honour the invitation by his colleague because of the mutual respect they share.
“I thank you for this invitation. I thank you for this level of respect we have for one another.
” I thank you for making your own and our brother Governor Aliyu proud and I thank you for making the people of Sokoto proud and I thank you for making our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu proud,”_ Sule stated.
Also speaking, Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto said the successful completion of the bridge and road is a testament to his administration’s determination to deliver meaningful development projects.
“This road will undoubtedly ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time, enhance safety, and promote commercial activities within the area and beyond.
” It will also contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the surrounding communities and strengthen connectivity across the state,” Gov. Aliyu said.
He commended the Ministry of Works under the Deputy Governor and the contractor, for a job well done.
Aliyu also appreciated the residents and community leaders of Silame for their patience and support during.thr construction.
Gov. Aliyu urged the benefiting communities and road users to take ownership of the projects and safeguard them for present and future generations.
He further thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his infrastructure and transformative agenda aimed at making Nigeria a better place for all.
Dignitaries at the event included the Nasarawa State Chairman of APC represented by his deputy, members of the State Working Committee, Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, Chief of Staff, and the Chairman of Silame Local Government Council including their various counterparts from Sokoto.
