Kwara: Dan Sokoto Donates Solar Street Lights to Fulani Community in Afon

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Kwara State House of Assembly, Afon Constituency, Hon. Salman Ridwan Dan Sokoto, has donated solar-powered street lights to the Fulani community in Afon Constituency as part of efforts to improve security and promote inclusive development.

Speaking during the presentation of the solar lights, Dan Sokoto said the initiative was aimed at ensuring that communities, particularly those in rural areas, were not left behind in development efforts.

He said, “Light is life. Light means safety, light means economic activity, and light means dignity. By providing solar lights, we are ensuring that no community is left in darkness. This is the kind of people-oriented leadership PDP represents.”

According to him, the project would contribute to improving security within the community by providing illumination at night, while also enabling residents to carry out trading and other social activities beyond daylight hours.

Dan Sokoto said the donation was also a demonstration of his commitment to reaching out to communities irrespective of their ethnic or social backgrounds.

He assured residents of Afon Constituency that the initiative was only the beginning of what he described as a broader development agenda, promising greater attention to healthcare, education, youth empowerment and rural development if the PDP forms the next government in Kwara State.

“We believe every community deserves to benefit from development. Our commitment is to ensure that the people of Afon Constituency have access to projects that directly improve their lives,” he said.

Receiving the donation, leaders of the Fulani community expressed appreciation to Dan Sokoto for the gesture, saying the solar street lights would improve visibility and contribute to the safety and wellbeing of residents.

The community leaders also pledged their support for the PDP candidate ahead of the forthcoming elections.
