Ex-PDP spokesperson in Sokoto, Babangida Kakaki defects to APC

The erstwhile Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Peoples Democratic Party ((PDP), Alhaji Babangida Kakaki, on Friday defected to the All Progressives Congress ( APC).

Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that Kakaki, a renowned public affairs commentator and analyst, was received into the fold of the APC by its Sokoto State Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Sarkin-Gobir Aditya, flanked by other  state officials of the party.

The Chairman described the defection of Alhaji Babangida Kakaki to the APC as a homecoming, saying that the state party was happy with the welcome development.

According to Alhaji Haruna Sarkin-Gobir Adiya, APC welcomes all members of the opposition parties especially the PDP and the African Democratic Congress ( ADC).

He said, ” APC is the largest party in Africa, the biggest and ruling party in Sokoto State, Nigeria and we cheerfully welcome anybody who wants to come on board.

“We will treat you and other people who may join the APC in due course as one because in APC, we are just and fair to all.

“Therefore, you will be treated equally like other old members of the party and we are confident that you will add great value to APC.”

Kakaki had earlier said that he was attracted into the fold of the APC by the giant strides of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto in all sectors of human life.

According to him, the Governor had transformed the state in just a period of three years, citing Islamic religious development, rural and urban renewal as well as the rejuvenation of the health, education and water supplies, among others.

The former PDP PRO specifically extolled the efforts of the Governor in safeguarding the lives and properties of the people of the state by according security the top priority it deserves.

Kakaki further applauded the APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for providing the direly needed guidance to the APC and the APC-led administration in Sokoto State.

He further described Wamakko as a reliable and dependable benefactor and father-figure to him.
