Maiduguri-based woman, Yakaka Yerima, celebrates Nursery school graduation of adopted daughter

A Maiduguri-based woman, Yakaka Yerima, has celebrated the nursery school graduation of her adopted daughter, six years after taking her in as a baby who lost both parents to insurgency.
In an emotional post that has touched many hearts, Yakaka recalled how she made one of the biggest decisions of her life six years ago when she chose to adopt the little girl.
According to her, the baby’s father was killed by insurgents before she was even born, while her mother died while giving birth to her. The baby was subsequently taken to an orphanage.
Yakaka said she could not sleep for three nights after hearing about the child, wondering how such a tiny, helpless baby would survive without a mother’s love.
At that time, she already had an 11-month-old baby of her own. Despite that, she brought the orphaned baby home and breastfed them both together.
“From that moment, she became my daughter in every way that matters,” she wrote.
On Monday, Yakaka shared her overflowing joy as she watched the once fragile baby graduate from nursery school.
“Today, my heart is overflowing as I watched her graduate from nursery school. The fragile little baby Allah entrusted to me is gradually becoming a big girl,” she said.
She offered prayers for her daughter, asking Allah to bless, protect and guide her, increase her in wisdom and goodness, and make her the coolness of her eyes.
“May Allah continue to bless and protect you my darling. May He guide your steps, increase you in wisdom and goodness, and make you the coolness of my eyes. Congratulations, my beautiful angel. Mommy is so proud of you,” she added.
