He said the Command collected N175,680,895,471.74 from January to October 2026 and remitted it to the federal government’s coffers.

“The Command has put strategies in place to improve revenue generation by blocking revenue leakages, adopting scanning of cargos, conducting thorough examination of cargos, as well as implementing an intelligence-based risk

Speaking further, Otunla explained that anti-smuggling efforts so far have yielded the interception of 178 packages of Tramadol and 50 cartons of Canadian Loud, with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N118,228,874,754.28, which were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) representative in line with existing law.

Commending his predecessor’s accomplishments, the new Acting Customs Area Controller, DC Mundi, said his administration will be guided by discipline and integrity to ensure improved service delivery. “I consider stakeholder engagement indispensable to our success. Therefore, I look forward to sustaining cordial relationships with our importers, licensed customs agents, and cargo terminal operators, among others, whose cooperation and compliance will remain essential to achieving our shared objectives,” he said

The event also featured goodwill messages from key stakeholders, including the outgoing Customs Area Controller, who was appointed Acting Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resources Development.
