Governor Ahmed Aliyu was among hundreds of Muslim faithful who attended the funeral prayer of late Alhaji Balarabe Yari Sifawa, who passed away on Friday.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Sokoto by Abubakar Bawa, Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto.
The funeral prayer, which was led by the Chief Imam of Sheikh Abubakar Gummi Jumu’at Mosque, Mabera, Sheikh Usman Dabagin Ardo, was attended by dignitaries from across the state.
Among those in attendance were ; Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga; Deputy Speaker, Hon. Kabiru Ibrahim Kware; members representing Bodinga/Dange Shuni/Tureta Constituency, Nasiru Shehu; other members of the legislature; Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa; Chief of Staff, Government House, Sokoto, Aminu Haliru Dikko, mni; commissioners; Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants; top government functionaries; politicians; members of the business community; among others.
In a condolence message shortly after the burial, Governor Aliyu described the late Balarabe Yari Sifawa as a pious, humble and devoted Muslim who dedicated his life to serving humanity.
“Late Balarabe Yari Sifawa, a retired Permanent Secretary and seasoned public servant, lived a fulfilled life with the fear of Allah,” he added.
The Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.
He appealed to the family of the late Yari Sifawa to accept the will of Almighty Allah and continue to pray for His mercy and forgiveness for the deceased.
The Governor also prayed to Almighty Allah to comfort the family and grant them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
Meanwhile, the APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, alongside Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, and Minister for State works Barrister Bello Goronyo, condoled with the family of late Balarabe Yari Sifawa and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest.
Late Balarabe Yari Sifawa died at the age of 81 and is survived by 3 wives, over 30 children and many grandchildren.Among his children is the current Executive Secretary of the Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Bilyaminu Balarabe Yari Sifawa.
During the condolence visit, special prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of late Balarabe Yari Sifawa and other departed souls.
