Sokoto High Court sentences 6 youngsters to death by hanging for armed robbery

The Sokoto State High Court, two,.sitting in Sokoto on Wednesday sentenced five youngsters to death by hanging for armed robbery.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that the sentence was handed down to the convicts by Justice Malami Umar Dogon Daji.
He listed the names of the convicts as: Ibrahim Hassan, Dansule Mohammed, Aminu Isah, Bello Mohammed and Mubarak Mande, all of Kwannawa Area, an outskirt of Sokoto city.
Delivering judgment, Justice Dogon Daji said that the convicts were charged with criminal conspiracy to commit theft contrary to Sections 279 and 287 of the State Penal Code.
He said that the fourth charge was illegal possession of firearms contrary to Section 30 of the same Penal Code.
According to Justice Dogon Daji, all the convicts are aged between 20 and 30, adding that they were arranged before the Court on 23rd January, 2024.
The Judge also vehemently decried the involvement of the young men in such heinous crime.
Similarly, Justice Dogon Daji has sentenced one Aminu Aliyu to death by hanging for armed robbery.
Justice Dogon Daji said that he was arraigned in the Court on 15 July, 2025, stating that he was charged with armed robbery, contrary to Section 287 of the same Penal Code.
