Orji Uzor Kalu extols Gov. Aliyu, seeks national unity

Orji Uzor Kalu, has commended the developmental projects executed by Gov. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, describing them as a clear evidence of purposeful leadership and commitment to the welfare of the people.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that Sen. Kalu made the remarks on Wednesday during a dinner organised in his honour by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko at his residence in Gawon Nama, Sokoto, as part of his two-day official visit to the state.
A statement issued on Thursday in Sokoto by Sen. Wamakko”s spokesperson, Bashar Abubakar, said that the former Governor praised Gov. Ahmad Aliyu for the infrastructural transformation taking place across Sokoto State, noting that the projects would have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the state.
He also commended Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for his punctuality and dedication at the National Assembly, describing the former Governor as a respected leader whose qualities should be emulated by public office holders.
Sen. Kalu expressed appreciation to the government and people of Sokoto State for the warm reception accorded to him throughout his visit. He described his relationship with Senator Wamakko as one built on mutual respect, national unity, and a shared commitment to the progress of Nigeria.
According to him, Sen. Wamakko remains a political leader whose advice and experience are valuable to the country’s democratic development.
The lawmaker called on Nigerians to remain united and committed to the peace, stability, and prosperity of the country, stressing that Nigeria remains the common heritage of all citizens.
He further appealed for continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and his re-election bid in 2027, while also urging residents of Sokoto State to support the administration of Governor Ahmad Aliyu.
Speaking on behalf of Gov. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, thanked Senator Wamakko for organising the reception and appreciated Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for honouring the invitation to visit Sokoto State.
Dingyadi noted that Kalu’s visit and participation in the commissioning of projects executed by the state government underscored the cordial relationship among political leaders across the country and their shared commitment to national development.
The dinner was attended by Gov. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Barrister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, Minister Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly.
It was also attended by the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, the Head of Service, Commissioners, federal and state lawmakers, party leaders, and other distinguished guests, among other top-notch personalities from within and outside Sokoto State.
