
Kebbi Governor commissions N14.5km N4.53bn road project in Sokoto

Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu on Thursday commissioned the 14.5km Zawaiyya to Unguwar Maidaji to Gwangwan Dikko Road in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that the road was constructed by the State government at the cost of about N4.53billion under the 9-Smart Innovative Agenda of Gov. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.
Our Correspondent also reports that the Kauran Gwandu laid the foundation for the construction of two other roads in Shagari Local Government Area as part of his one-day official visit to Sokoto State.
The roads are: The 7.5km Kajiji to Sanyinnawal road and the 13.5km Mandera to Darin Guru to Jabo Road.
Speaking at the epochal event, Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu expressed appreciation to Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for extending the invitation to him, saying that the gesture had bolstered the extant cordial relationship between the two states.
The Kebbi State Governor further underscored the importance of road infrastructure in boosting the socio-economic lives of the citizenry.
According to the Governor, roads have direct bearing to the well-being of the people of the various communities, saying that their importance cannot be in anyway be underestimated
Dr Nasir Idris also said that rural roads are the backbones of national development as they open up access to schools , health facilities and they enhance transportation.
The Kebbi therefore extolled Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for investing hugely in roads infrastructure across the state, maintaining that they greatly improve the living standards of the people.
He acknowledged that most communities in Sokoto and Kebbi States are largely agrarian, adding that the projects cannot come at a better time than now.
While appealing to Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto to sustain the invaluable gesture, Dr Nasir Idris also urged the communities to jealousy guard the myriad infrastructure being provided across the states.
He urged, “We must develop the culture of protecting public infrastructure as they are provided with the resources of the people.
Also speaking, the host Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto commended Dr Nasir Idris for swiftly honouring the invitation within 49 hours.
The Sokoto State Governor also described both Kebbi and Sokoto States as one, saying, ” we are an indivisible entity.”
Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto also acknowledged the sustained support of development partners to the development trajectory of the state.
The Sokoto State Governor further said that the word projected would boast access to markets, empower the citizens and provide more socioeconomic opportunities for the people of the state.
While pledging to sustain such projects, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto stated that several of other roads projects had been completed and commissioned, while others are at various stages of completion.
The Sokoto State Governor also commented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu fo providing credible leadership to to Nigerians, vowing to continue supporting all his laudable people-oriented programmes and policies.
