Afon Youths Deny Involvement in Alleged Emir’s Palace Incident, Urge Probe

The Afon Constituency Youth Stakeholders Forum has distanced itself from reports linking youths from the constituency to an alleged abuse incident at the Emir’s Palace involving Prince Maddibo Sulu Gambari.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the group said after consultations with youth leaders, community representatives, and other stakeholders across Afon Constituency, it had no knowledge of the reported incident and was not involved in any way.
The forum stated that the matter does not reflect the position, actions, or values of youths in the constituency.
It condemned all forms of violence, abuse, and disrespect toward individuals and traditional institutions, while cautioning against the spread of unverified claims capable of creating tension and damaging reputations.
The group also expressed concern over what it described as the silence of some political stakeholders in addressing the issue.
It called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party at the state and local government levels, as well as other relevant stakeholders, to intervene swiftly, establish the facts, and ensure due process is followed.
According to the statement, silence or inaction could allow misinformation to spread further.
The forum reaffirmed its commitment to peace, respect for traditional authority, and unity within the party and the wider community, urging all parties to remain calm and allow lawful channels to handle the matter.
