Sokoto: Sanyinna District moves to curb extravagant expenses in wedding, naming ceremonies

 

The newly appointed District Head of Sanyinna, Tambuwal Local Government in Sokoto State, Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed Sanyinna, has vowed to curb extravagant expenses in wedding, naming and other social ceremonies.

He spoke when he elatedly addressed a mammoth crowd of his subjects in Sanyinna town following his turbaning by the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), last Thursday.

Barrister Sanyinna was among the 21 new District Heads turbaned by the Sultan and the great grand son of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Bello Ahmed Danbaba, who was turbaned as the new Magajin Garin Sokoto.

Another prominent District Head turbaned was the former Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt.-Hon. Lawali Labbo Marghai, who was turbaned as the new Sarkin Kabin Kebbe.

Also turbaned was the younger brother of Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, a former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Ahmed Barade who clinched the enviable position of the Baraden Wamakko, the District Head of Wamakko.

Barrister Sanyinna said that the measure was aimed at further alleviating the suffering of the people especially in view of the current socioeconomic predicament in the country.

The erudite legal practitioner also pledged to bring good governance and development to the area.

While vowing to ramp up food security in his domain, he called on farmers, traders, scholars, and clerics to support his efforts.

Barrister Sanyinna also emphasized the importance of upholding faith and respecting one another.

He urged Islamic scholars to advise the community on practices that contradict Sharia law, particularly in marriage and naming ceremonies.

To address community needs and bolster infrastructural development, he unfolded some committees: Scholars’,.security, electricity and water supply committees.

The traditional ruler expressed gratitude to the Sokoto State Governor and the Sultan for the opportunity to serve the Sanyinna community, thanking the people in his domain for their undying love and sustained invaluable support.
