Sokoto Govt. earmarks N7.5bn for construction of 3 Mega Schools – SUBEB Chairman

Sokoto State Government has earmarked over N7.5billion for the construction of three Mega Schools in the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
The Chairman of the Sokoto State Universal Education Board ( SUBEB), Alhaji Umaru Na-Gwari Tambuwal, who disclosed this to newsmen in Sokoto, said that each of the schools would cost N2.5billiion, with no fewer than 60 classrooms.
He listed the locations of the proposed schools to include; Tambuwal, Goronyo and Wamakko for Sokoto West, Central and East Senatorial Districts, respectively.
The SUBEB boss added that each of the schools would have an array of structures including houses for Principal and Vice Principal, playground, laboratories and two boreholes.
Other structures in each of the mega schools include a clinic, an ICT Centre, perimeter fencing, Nursery, Primary and Secondary school.
Expatiating further on the mega schools, the board’s ICT Officer, Mallam Nura Sani, stated that each of them would also have a Mosque, Headmaster’s office and a mini Stadium, staff rooms, among other ultramodern structure.
Throwing more light on the proposed mega schools, SUBEB’s Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Engr. Tukur Mohammed Yabo, said that they were initiated by the state government sequel to the commendable mission and vision of the education-friendly Governor of the state , Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.
According to him, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has been fully committed to restoring the lost glory of the education sector in the state since his election in 2023.
Engr. Yabo said that officials of the board had since undertaken visits to Yobe, Borno and Kaduna States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where they understudied their existing mega schools.
He said, ” The proposed mega schools will be at par with others in parts of Nigeria and beyond.
“The Governor directed us to build these  schools to be in tune with extant global digital era and they will serve as models which will be replicated in other parts of the state.”
