YARI TAKES APC CAMPAIGN COUNCIL TO SULTAN, SEEKS ROYAL BLESSINGS, PRAYERS

The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress, APC, 2027 Presidential Campaign Council and former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari Abubakar, on Monday led a high-powered delegation to the Palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, to seek royal blessings, prayers and guidance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the visit, Senator Yari said the delegation came to obtain the Sultan’s fatherly counsel, advice and prayers as the party prepares to commence its campaign for the 2027 elections.
He noted that even prior to his emergence as President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had demonstrated commitment to the growth and development of the Northern region and Nigeria as a whole through his support for other leaders.
According to him, the APC-led Federal Government has several achievements to present to Nigerians, particularly under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He stressed that since assuming office, President Tinubu has remained focused on fostering peace, unity and national cohesion.
Senator Yari further assured that the APC would conduct a peaceful, issue-based and responsible campaign, while soliciting the Sultan’s continued support, guidance and prayers for the party and the country.
In his remarks, the host Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, said campaign activities for the 2027 elections have formally commenced nationwide in accordance with the schedule and guidelines released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The Governor explained that, given the Sultan’s role as the spiritual leader of Muslims and his consistent advocacy for peace, unity and national development, the APC Campaign Council considered it necessary to pay him an early visit to seek his guidance, prayers and royal blessings ahead of the polls.
Responding, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, advised politicians to refrain from politicising insecurity as they campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The monarch observed that no government anywhere in the world could completely eliminate insecurity and poverty, but stressed that governments have a responsibility to work relentlessly to minimise their impact on citizens and improve their quality of life.
He called on political actors to run peaceful and issue-driven campaigns, respect the decisions of voters and engage in politics that promotes national unity, peace and development rather than division.
The Sultan urged politicians to place the interests of Nigerians above partisan considerations and challenged citizens to pay close attention to the promises made by political parties and candidates, evaluate their records and make informed decisions at the polls.
He wished the APC Campaign Council success in meeting the expectations placed on it and offered prayers for Nigeria’s leaders, the electorate and the country, seeking lasting peace, stability and prosperity for the nation.
Members of the delegation included the Governors of Kebbi and Zamfara States, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Senator Adamu Aliero, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari, former Senate President Senator Pius Anyim, and former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, among other dignitaries.
