NRCS hands over 700 cartons of RUTF to Sokoto Gov’t

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, NRCS, Sokoto Branch, has handed over 700 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food, RUTF, to the Sokoto State Government to support efforts at addressing malnutrition among vulnerable children.
The intervention, supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, IFRC, under the Malnutrition Emergency Appeal Programme, MEAP, is expected to complement the state government’s efforts in meeting the nutritional needs of children aged between six and 59 months.
A statement by the Branch Communication and PMER Officer of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Sokoto Branch, Yahaya Ishaq, says the commodities will be distributed across Sokoto North, Sokoto South and Wamakko Local Government Areas, where the programme is currently being implemented.
The items were received on behalf of the Sokoto State Government through the Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency, SSPHCDA.
The representative of the state government commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society and the IFRC for their continued support and assured that the RUTF would be properly utilised and distributed to the targeted beneficiaries.
The NRCS Sokoto Branch reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the state government, health authorities, partners and other stakeholders to strengthen efforts towards preventing and addressing malnutrition among vulnerable children in the state.
