Sheshi Katcha commends Ndarani SAN for donating solar borehole, N1m welfare support to elderly

The Sheshi Katcha, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, has commended the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Alhaji Mohammed Ndarani, for providing a solar-powered borehole and N1 million financial assistance to 50 elderly and indigent residents of Katcha Local Government Area of Niger.

The traditional ruler gave the commendation through his Sonfada, Alhaji Baba Babadu while inaugurating the borehole donated by Ndarani, Hukunchi Nupe and Hausaland and Madugu Uban Tafiya Lapai, on Monday.

He also blessed the distribution of N20,000 each to 50 beneficiaries under Ndarani’s special social welfare initiative, tagged, “Operation Provide Social Welfare for Indigent Old Men and Women.”

Abdullahi described the intervention as a demonstration of Ndarani’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of ordinary people, particularly the elderly and vulnerable members of society.

He said the provision of potable water was a timely intervention, noting that access to clean and safe water remained one of the most important needs of any community.

The traditional ruler said the borehole would reduce the hardship faced by residents, especially women, children and elderly persons who often had to travel considerable distances in search of water.

He said Ndarani’s philanthropic activities had shown that he was a man with a large heart who placed the welfare of his people above personal considerations.

According to him, the gesture goes beyond the physical projects and financial assistance, as it has demonstrated love, compassion and a genuine desire to touch the lives of the less privileged.

“The legal luminary has shown that leadership is not only about occupying a position, but about using whatever Allah has given a person to make life better for others.

“We are particularly grateful because he remembered our elderly fathers and mothers who have contributed immensely to the growth of our communities but are now vulnerable because of their age,” he said.

Sheshi Katcha urged the beneficiaries to use the assistance judiciously and to continue praying for Ndarani and other individuals contributing to the development of their communities.

He also appealed to other wealthy individuals from Katcha and Niger State to emulate the gesture and support initiatives capable of improving the living conditions of vulnerable citizens.

The traditional ruler further called on the community to protect the borehole and ensure its proper maintenance so that it would continue to serve present and future generations.

He expressed appreciation to Ndarani for choosing Katcha as one of the communities to benefit from his humanitarian interventions, describing the initiative as a worthy example of community service.

Earlier, Alhaji Ndarani, the learned silk in his remarks said the intervention was motivated by his desire to touch lives and provide practical solutions to some of the challenges confronting ordinary citizens.

He said the borehole was provided because access to clean and safe water remained a basic necessity of life.

Ndarani explained that the social welfare programme was particularly targeted at indigent elderly men and women, especially those aged 70 years and above, who had spent their productive years contributing to their families and communities.

He said the initiative was expected to extend to the eight Local Government Areas of Niger South Senatorial District, popularly known as Zone A.

According to him, the intervention is not intended to replace the responsibilities of government, families or communities, but represents a modest contribution toward alleviating the hardship faced by vulnerable elderly citizens.

Ndarani urged families and communities to take greater responsibility for the welfare of elderly persons, stressing that they should not be abandoned after spending their productive years serving society.

He also appealed to wealthy individuals to emulate the spirit of giving by supporting the elderly, providing potable water, assisting vulnerable families and investing in education, healthcare and other areas of human development.

The SAN said the essence of the initiative was to build a culture in which nobody, particularly the elderly and vulnerable, would feel forgotten.

He said: “Our elderly people matter. Those who spent their lives serving their families and communities deserve dignity and compassion in their old age.”

The learned silk further said that positions, titles and material possessions were temporary, stressing that what remained was the impact individuals made on the lives of others.

He prayed that the intervention would grow beyond Katcha and reach elderly citizens across the eight Local Government Areas of Niger South.

Also speaking at the occasion, Ustaz Dr Baba commended Ndarani for using his wealth to assist the needy and provide facilities that directly affected the lives of ordinary people.

The Islamic scholar said Islam encouraged wealthy individuals to use their resources in ways that would benefit humanity and earn them reward from Almighty Allah.

He said Ndarani’s provision of potable water and financial assistance to indigent elderly persons was an example of a good deed whose reward would continue beyond this world.

Mallam Ahmed bangi urged wealthy Nigerians to emulate the gesture, saying that wealth was a trust from Almighty Allah and should not be accumulated merely for personal comfort while vulnerable members of society suffered.

He reminded the audience that no human being would take material possessions to the grave, stressing that mansions, expensive cars and money kept in bank accounts would eventually be left behind.

The cleric cautioned against the accumulation of wealth through questionable or unlawful means, urging people to pursue legitimate wealth and spend it in ways that would attract Allah’s blessings.

He said people should ask themselves what they would leave behind when they eventually died, adding that the best legacy was to use one’s wealth to improve the lives of others.

According to him, providing water to a community, feeding the hungry, assisting the elderly and supporting the less privileged are among the deeds capable of earning lasting rewards.

“Whatever Ndarani is doing today for the people, particularly providing potable water and supporting indigent elderly men and women, is something he will benefit from not only in this world but also in the Hereafter, by the grace of Almighty Allah,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to appreciate the gesture, pray for Ndarani and encourage other wealthy members of society to follow his example.

Other speakers at the event also commended Ndarani for his commitment to humanitarian service, describing the intervention as a practical demonstration of compassion and concern for the welfare of the people.

They said the provision of potable water and financial assistance to elderly residents was particularly significant because it addressed both infrastructure and immediate social needs.

The speakers urged other philanthropists, businessmen, professionals and public-spirited individuals to complement government efforts by investing in projects and programmes that directly improve the lives of vulnerable citizens.

They also appealed to the beneficiaries and community leaders to ensure that the borehole was adequately protected and maintained for sustainable use.
