Sokoto Gov’t applauds WFP, Life Helpers Initiative

The Sokoto State Government has commended the World Food Programme (WFP) and Life Helpers Initiative for establishing two Farmers Service Hubs “Noma Tushen Arziki” in Kware and Wamakko LGAs.
During a visit to the Wamakko Hub, the Commissioner for Budget & Economic Planning, Dr. Bashir Muhammad Achida, described the FCDO-supported Resilience Building Centres as a great initiative boosting livelihoods and well-being.
He said the model should be replicated across communities and announced plans to revitalize similar abandoned centres established during the administration of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, with donor support, to enhance the living standards of the people.
WFP and Life Helpers Initiative pledged to continue supporting farmers and vulnerable households in Sokoto State.
The Commissioner and members of his entourage were conducted round and briefed on the different sections of the hub by the Executive Director of Life Helpers Initiative, Dr. Tayo Fatinikun.
The visit ended with tree planting by the Hon. Commissioner, Dr. Bashir Muhammad Achida, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Buhari Umar Musheshi; the WFP Head of Supply Chain, Abuja Office, Mr. Khusro Jawid and the Chairman, Sokoto State Cash Transfer Working Group, Alhaji Mamuda Galadima.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the WFP Head of Programme, Abuja, Mrs. Agnes Mugatia, among others.
