In alignment with the strategic directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Sokoto State Police Command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, has significantly intensified proactive policing operations across the state.
These measures are designed to prevent banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping for ransom, activities of the Lakurawa group, and other violent crimes.
Adopting an intelligence-led policing strategy, the Command has successfully identified suspected bandit enclaves and supply routes.
Also, tactical teams have been deployed in a coordinated manner to monitor and disrupt criminal movements.
Similarly, Officers and personnel are strategically positioned across the Eastern and Northern zones to ensure continuous visibility policing, with a particular focus on designated high-risk areas.
To strengthen intelligence operations, dedicated units have been deployed to generate actionable insights that support proactive interventions.
Intelligence-driven stop-and-search exercises have been intensified, while covert surveillance operations continue across vulnerable locations throughout the state.
In a bid to enhance inter-agency synergy, the Command is collaborating closely with the Military, Department of State Services (DSS), CommunityGuard Watch, and other sister security agencies through joint operations and regular coordination meetings. Furthermore, the Command has deepened community engagement with key stakeholders, including the Sultanate, traditional rulers, community leaders, NURTW and local government authorities, to strengthen cooperation and reinforce the local security architecture.
Stakeholders are strongly encouraged to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts.

Supervising officers have been directed to maintain strict oversight of personnel to ensure discipline, vigilance, and operational efficiency.
