NUJ ZONE A MOURNS VETERAN JOURNALIST ADENIYI OLUGBEMI
By Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Zone A (Northwest) writes to express its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of our late veteran colleague, Mr. Adeniyi Olugbemi, the Sokoto State Council of the NUJ, and the entire journalism community.
The Zonal leadership under the Vice President, Malam Tukur Umar, received the sad news with profound shock and deep regret. On behalf of all journalists across Zone A, we register our deepest sympathies and offer our sincere prayers for the eternal repose of the deceased.
Late Mr. Adeniyi Olugbemi was a dedicated, passionate, professional, and deeply humane journalist who served the pen profession with utmost distinction.
Throughout his illustrious career, he distinguished himself as a correspondent for various esteemed newspapers and magazines, holding numerous editorial positions including Bureau Chief and later a Publisher.
His commitment to truth and public service also extended to his active grassroots involvement as a member of the Correspondents’ Chapel and as the Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Sokoto State Chapter.
He passed away yesterday in his hometown of Abeokuta, Ogun State, after a brief illness. While we mourn this immense loss to the Fourth Estate of the Realm, we take solace in the impactful legacy of service he leaves behind.
May Almighty God grant his family, friends, and colleagues the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Signed
Abdulrazak Bello Kaura
Secretary, Zone A
