Kebbi Assures Private Media Organisations of Stronger Partnership to Promote Development

The Kebbi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with private media organisations as part of efforts to ensure the effective dissemination of government policies, programmes and achievements.

The assurance was given by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, during a courtesy visit to selected private media organisations in Birnin Kebbi alongside members of Governor Nasir Idris’ media team.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the management and staff of the media organisations for their professionalism, support and cooperation over the past three years, describing their contributions as invaluable to the success of the present administration.

He noted that the stations had consistently upheld their responsibility of informing, educating and entertaining the public while providing balanced and objective coverage of government activities.

Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed explained that the visit was aimed at consolidating the cordial relationship between the state government and private media organisations, with a view to expanding areas of mutual collaboration for the overall development of Kebbi State.

He also urged media organisations to remain vigilant against misinformation and the dissemination of unverified reports capable of misleading the public. He stressed the importance of fact-checking, professionalism and responsible journalism in safeguarding public trust and confidence.

Speaking on behalf of Nagari FM, the General Manager, Alhaji Iliyasu, welcomed the delegation and described the visit as timely and encouraging. He reaffirmed the station’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote the development of Kebbi State and appealed for improved access to government officials whenever clarification on public issues becomes necessary, noting that such cooperation would enhance balanced and accurate reporting.

The General Manager of Vision FM, Shehu Malami Zagga, commended the Governor’s media team for its professionalism and dedication. He called for stronger engagement between government ministries, departments and agencies and media organisations, particularly through digital platforms. He also urged political stakeholders to complement the government’s communication efforts by actively projecting its developmental programmes and achievements.

Similarly, the General Manager of Equity Television, Muhammad I. Kamba, praised the administration’s developmental strides and acknowledged the cordial relationship between the government and private media organisations. He assured the delegation that the station would continue to give prominence to programmes and activities that positively impact the people of Kebbi State while maintaining the highest professional standards.

In his remarks, the General Manager of Kauran Gwandu Television, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged stronger collaboration with the state government. He assured the delegation that the station would continue to support efforts aimed at promoting government achievements and providing timely and useful information to the public.

Also speaking, the General Manager of Saminaka Television, Alhaji Ushau Hassan, described the visit as historic and a clear demonstration that the present administration values the vital role of the media. He appealed to the government to sustain its support for private media organisations, particularly in the areas of equipment, logistics and timely access to information on government programmes and projects.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visits by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki; the Special Adviser on Communications Strategy, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru; the Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Jombali; the Special Adviser on New Media, Alhaji Aliyu Bandado; and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Idris.

The visit formed part of the Kebbi State Government’s ongoing efforts to deepen engagement with media stakeholders, strengthen strategic communication and foster a productive partnership that will continue to support the state’s development agenda under the leadership of Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu.
