APC holds successful affirmations for 3 Senatorial Candidates in Sokoto

The All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday successfully held held its affirmations for three Senatorial Candidates in Sokoto State.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto who monitored the exercises reports that those affirmed were: Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sen. Abdullahi Danbaba Dambuwa and Alhaji Umar Ajiya, for Sokoto North, Sokoto South as well as Sokoto East Senatorial Districts, respectively.
The affirmations were supervised by a 16-man Election Committee despatched to Sokoto State by the National Headquarters of APC, while the exercises were monitored across the state by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other relevant agencies.
The historic event was also witnessed by the State Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, his Deputy, Engr. Idris Muhammad Gobir, the Speaker, Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt.-Hon
Tukur Bala Bodinga, members of the National and State House of Assembly.
Others were the former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Chiso Dattijo Abdullahi and the former Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Hassan Masha, among a myriad of other personalities.
It was also learnt that the epochal affirmations were hitch-free across the state.
In a welcome address, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Commiitee in the Sokoto North Senatorial District, Barrister Nasir Muhammad Binji, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, said that they were conducted in line with the provisions of the Constitution, Electoral Act, 2026 and the regulations of the APC.
Barrister Nasir Muhammad Binji said that Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and the former Governor of the state is the sole Candidate in the District.
Binji said, “Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko was the sole aspirant who filled the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the enviable position.
“He was also successfully screened and cleared by APC, so, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko is hereby declared as the Sole Candidate to contest the position.”
The leader of the delegation from the National Headquarters of the party, Hon. Hodi Ukashatu, commended the peaceful conduct of the affirmations across the state.
In his acceptance speech, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, who expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah, lauded the people of the state for their sustained love, support, fervent prayers and solidarity to him and the APC.
Sen. Wamakko, who also acknowledged the sustained tremendous confidence of the people of the state, added, “they have been so loyal and supportive.
“Sokoto State is unique to APC and the history of the party won’t be complete without the inclusion of the state.”
Addressing newsmen at his residence shortly after the epochal event, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko said that he felt elated by the colossal confidence reposed in him and APC by the people of the state.
He again recommitted himself to more service to mankind, his constituents, people of the state and Nigerians in general.
The former Governor of Sokoto State also admonished that Sokoto State should continue to be a model in Nigeria, urging leaders that all the citizens must be carried along.
Sen. Wamakko urged, “The entire nation must borrow a leaf from Sokoto State,” reminding all the candidates of the party across the country to remember that they are only out to serve the citizens and not to acquire wealth.
“So, we must strive to provide improved services to Nigerians and we must all serve our constituent’s diligently and to the best of our abilities.”
